Faja After BBL: Complete Recovery Guide
Your BBL results depend heavily on the compression garment you wear during recovery. The right faja shapes your new curves, reduces swelling, and supports healing. Here's everything you need to know.
Stage 1 Faja (Weeks 1–4)
Stage 1 fajas are open-bust, high-compression garments worn immediately after surgery. They keep swelling down and protect your new shape during the most critical healing phase. You'll wear this 24/7 except during bathing.
Stage 2 Faja (Weeks 4–8)
After your surgeon clears you, you transition to a Stage 2 faja — slightly less compression, more comfortable for everyday wear. This is where most of your final shaping happens.
How Long Should You Wear a Faja After BBL?
Most surgeons recommend wearing compression for 8–12 weeks total. Stage 1 for the first 4 weeks, then Stage 2 for weeks 4–12. Some patients continue wearing shapewear beyond 12 weeks for comfort and additional shaping.
What to Look for in a BBL Faja
- Open buttock design: Protects your fat grafts while still compressing the abdomen and waist
- High waist compression: Targets the abdomen area most affected by lipo
- Breathable fabric: You'll wear this all day — comfort matters
- Zipper or hook closure: Makes bathroom trips manageable
Can I Sleep in My Faja?
Yes — for the first 4 weeks, most surgeons recommend sleeping in your Stage 1 faja. Sleep on your stomach or side to protect your buttock fat grafts.
